The General Manager will be responsible for independently overseeing our DC/Crystal City office, including the management of the Sales and Operations departments. The General Manager establishes and communicates goals, monitors performance, provides training and coaching, and holds staff accountable in achieving set expectations.

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing incentive programs for employees and evaluating the region’s efficiency and productivity. Additionally, you will collaborate with company executives to develop strategic plans for business growth based on short-term and long-term goals and communicate those goals to direct reports and guide them to success. Job Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise a growing team of real estate agents and administrative support staff
  • Conduct staff meetings to engage the team and provide regular updates
  • Participate in talent acquisition, onboarding, training, coaching, and professional and leadership development for the staff
  • Create and maintain a succession plan for the resources in your assigned region
  • Collaborate with our Director of Employee Experience on the people needs of the company
  • Collaborate with Corporate to ensure policies and procedures are efficient and effective
  • Set performance expectations, conduct periodic one-on-one review meetings, and provide effective feedback to support employee success
  • Oversee vendor communications and issue resolution
  • Develop and submit an annual regional strategic plan
  • Manage strategic partner relationships to support growth and expansion
  • Ensure that productivity and delivery of services of the DC region meets annual goals

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Remain current in industry trends and best practices
  • Encourage employee engagement through office activities and volunteer events
  • Approve manager time-off as requested and ensure there is adequate coverage
  • Be available for overtime as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of industry experience, plus 3-5 years of residential real estate experience. Additional experiences in real estate and sales also considered
  • Sales experience specifically in real estate preferred, but not required
  • 3+ years experience directly managing a team
  • Tech-savvy and familiar with CRM and real estate applications, such as TREND MLS, Copper, Zillow and Trulia, as well as mobile technology and the Google Suite (Google Calendar, Docs)
  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems independently
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills, and an ability to resolve and manage conflict
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Proven critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and company needs
  • Demonstrated experience and success with strategic planning

Physical Demands: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, use a motor vehicle, be on feet for up to two hours, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear  
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds  
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
